To address this problem, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has made several efforts thereby joining the march towards ultra-fast travel in the world. From driverless cars to flying cabs, Dubai is currently witnessing a massive intervention of technology in transportation sector & The Dubai Hyperloop is an example of that.

Hyperloop: The next big thing in travel
While we all have travelled through air, water and land, the future of travel will be in underground tubes.Soon you will travel from one city to another in the UAE within minutes courtesy Virgin Hyperloop One as the fifth mode of transportation, Hyperloop, has made its global debut in the city.
The USA based company in conjunction with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have created the first Hyperloop pod prototype that aims to carry passengers at near speed of sound through low-pressure underground tubes using magnetic levitation.
According to RTA, Dubai- Abu Dhabi Hyperloop will be operational from as early as 2020 and when it opens, the Hyperloop is expected to carry up to 10000 passengers per hour between the two cities, which are located about 75 miles apart. Dubai to Abu Dhabi -a route that takes around 90 minutes by car will be travelled in 12 minutes through this new transport system.
It is worth mentioning here that RTA plans to make 25% of travel in Dubai driverless by 2030 and such efforts may play a great role in achieving such goals.

Hyperloop and the future of business travel
The Hyperloop is said to be most effective when it comes to business travelling. Imagine being able to send team members up and down the offices located in different cities (Dubai to Riyadh) for face to face meetings. It would be incredible to even imagine stepping out of a villa in Dubai and arriving just 48 minutes later in your office in Riyadh.

“The project will be split into three phases, with the first focusing on creating a network in Dubai. It will then link with Abu Dhabi and the final phase is expanding to the rest of the GCC”
The travel would also become easy for the higher-ups of the companies as they can visit many business locations in less time. This will eventually increase the productivity as the time spent in travel will be slashed to a fraction of their present length.

Hyperloop Effects on other modes
As it happens with many things in life, “one person’s gain is another person’s loss”. This quote may hold true for car rental companies in Dubai and other passengers transport as they could feel the heat when Hyperloop will be thrown open to the public. However, it will be too early to comment on this as the Hyperloop will take time to be operational and also ticket prices are yet to be disclosed. While Hyperloop is for long-distance travel, the city will always look better on wheels.
Presently, renting a car in Dubai is the most convenient option for the business travellers, tourists and short time visitors as public transport doesn’t cover all city interiors and remote areas. As this new system progresses, the car hire companies will be watching the development very keenly.
