Car Technology to Watch in 2019 and Beyond

Car Technologies in 2019

In the hi-tech world, the auto industry is constantly bringing us new technologies- be it for safety, entertainment, usefulness or simply for innovation. Some of the new car innovations we’ve found are truly exciting technologies that could revolutionize not just the automotive industry but human transportation in general.

Automotive technology is moving forward at a faster pace. Every year a new model brings a new swing of high-tech features. Not every vehicle has all or even some of the below mentioned features, but it’s important to know what’s out there and what you should expect to get for your money when it comes to buying a new vehicle in 2019.

Continue reading to learn about the future car technologies-

1. Steering Avoidance-

Automated braking systems have been there for a while now and the next step of this feature is Steering Avoidance systems. Vehicles like Volvo, Lexus and others can be handled with steering avoidance systems thus being able to automatically deviate to miss the objects in the road ahead or keep the car centered in the lane.

These systems might seem funny and of no use to you right now but if they save you from an accident, you’d be entirely grateful that you had them.

2. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay-

The interfaces called In-car infotainment systems that assist you to make a U-turn or tell you the name of the song on the radio, are often quite inadequate and complicated to operate while driving. But in recent years, many car companies have caved, letting the third-party apps integrate with that car’s regular interface.

The top third-party apps used are Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto. Both are a stripped-down version of your phone’s system that runs on your car’s computer interface. You can control music, navigate and communicate by voice commands and, of course, car’s manual controls.

3. Wireless Charging-

As technology is advancing, mobile devices are moving from wires and cables to wireless charging capability. Google, Apple and Samsung offer wireless-charging feature in their latest models, which in turn has forced automakers to incorporate wireless charging pads into new vehicles.

This feature eliminates this “cable” variable and replaces it with a simple system that is well-suited with all mobile devices that offer wireless charging capability. The ease of using this feature means that you’ll seldom arrive at your destination with a low battery- something that makes us all a little concerned!

4. Pre-Safe Sound-

Pre-Safe Sound Technology that has earned plenty of headlines is the new automotive safety technology you’ll find in Mercedes Benz. This feature will pump a sound of a particular frequency into the vehicle’s cabin in the split second before the collision, with the intention of preparing the inner-ear to cope with the pending loud noise of the collision.

This Pre-Safe sound protects hearing by generating a reflex that causes stapedius muscle to contract, fading the connection between ear-drum and the inner ear. The loud noises are therefore reflected in the ear drum rather than the inner ear thus mitigating hearing damage.

5. App-based Vehicle Control-

Automakers have begun to make apps that allow us to control our vehicle from far and wide. From starting the car to flashing the lights to monitoring the area around the vehicle, you are in full control of your vehicle through a simple app in your phone!

How is this feature useful? These connected apps allow you to leave those metal keys at your home and truly live in the modern world. Also, it makes easier for you to find your car in the parking lot and allow you to cross-check whether or not you locked it.

6. Digital Gauges-

Physical gauges like speedometer and tachometer are replaced by digital gauges with screens. Digital gauges share more relevant information and give a better view into the behavior of the vehicle. In a vehicle with a variety of drive modes or high-tech infotainment features that warrant configurability, a digital gauge cluster can be a big help.
