Be Cool as a Cucumber

People usually get nervous when they are asked to take the driver’s seat as the driving test of 2-3 candidates is taken together in one car and examiner might be sitting next to the driver. It is very important to be prepared otherwise lack of alertness and nervousness can lead to failure in the test. Don’t panic and just think that the examiner and two candidates sitting behind in the car are just passengers. So when you are asked to drive make sure to ask everyone to get settled before you start.

Be confident when changing lanes

Poor lane changing is one of the main reason for failing a driving test. Lane changing is a skill that usually naive drivers fail at, so this can be quite a hard thing for beginners. In order to get away with it, make sure to wait for the road to clear up before lane changing.

The driver should make use of all of his mirrors to check if the road is clear and then lane changing should be completed. If, however, the road is not clear don’t change the lane even if the examiner asks you to do so.

Through this examiner might be checking your alertness to the road traffic and also your judgement. Lane changing can be dangerous if the road is not clear especially for the beginner. Don’t proceed in such case.

You should also note that it is an offence in UAE to overtake a vehicle from the right side.

Don’t take too much time in making basic adjustments

In order to impress the examiners, some aspirants tend to take extra time in making basic adjustments like adjusting mirrors, seats or wearing seat belts when asked to take the driver’s seat.  Some drivers intentionally take extra time in preliminary adjustments to give an impression of confidence but doing this can backfire as examiner keenly evaluates the time taken to make these adjustments and delay can lead to a failure in the road test. So make sure to be swift when making these basic tunings.
